Hello Soccer Families!

I want to take a moment to discuss the coronavirus and COVID-19 crisis in relation to soccer programming within the district and Wisconsin Youth Soccer.

The district is aware this virus is serious and deadly, striking down even healthy individuals in their prime. As such, the health and safety of your family and loved ones should be your top priority. Please be vigilant in your social distancing and limit contact with others so the spread can be contained, and the impacts reduced. We sincerely hope all families will be well.

While we wish we could provide some certainty in this uncertain time, we cannot. Following the guidance from US Youth Soccer and Wisconsin Youth Soccer, it is our goal and aspiration to provide some type of soccer programming to our membership this spring/summer. As such, we have currently planned for a modified season that will start after Memorial Day. Please understand that this is based on the current government guidance and assumes a restart to normal life in mid-May. We certainly hope that this comes true but understand based on current projections this may not be possible. The district board is actively monitoring the situation and reviewing data from the national office, the state office, the CDC and Wisconsin Department of Health Services.

While we aspire to have the season begin in mid-May, we will review and make further adjustments. Please be patient and understand that our goal is to give children a chance to have some type of “normal” summer activity and that is why we are unable to provide definite answers.

Please remember to take care of the top priority – your family’s health and security. Please check with your club for the latest information and watch your e-mail for any updates we can provide.

Be safe and take care!

Thank you,

Jay DeBruin

East Central President

***There is currently no vaccine to prevent COVID-19, and there is currently no specific treatment. The best way to prevent infection is to avoid being exposed to the virus.

Take these steps to help prevent the spread of respiratory viruses:

· Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially before eating and after going to the bathroom, blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.

· If you do not have soap and water, use an alcohol-based sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol. Always wash hands with soap and water if hands are visibly dirty.

· Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.

· Avoid close contact with people who are sick.

· Stay home when you are sick.

· Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.

· Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces using a regular household cleaning spray or wipe.

· Please be cautions of events with 250 or more people and take the necessary precautions to protect yourself.

At this time, healthy people in the general population do no need to use face masks to prevent the spread of COVID-19. The best way to avoid COVID-19 or other virus to follow the steps listed above.
